Ceramic Seals Unveiled: Did You Know These Features?

In industrial production, ceramic seals may be small, but their impact is significant. This article will introduce the characteristics of ceramic seals and highlight their remarkable features.

The Role of Sealing Rings

The role of sealing rings is not just to ensure the sealing performance of batteries but more importantly, to act as a "lifesaver" in critical moments. Generally, there is at least one weak spot on the sealing ring, which is weaker than the main plane. When the internal gas pressure of the battery rises abnormally before the battery explosion pressure, the weak part of the sealing ring can be damaged, allowing the internal gas to be released from the ruptured part. The gas follows the set gas discharge airflow path, preventing unpredictable airflow and avoiding violent battery explosions. However, most rubber sealing rings undergo elastic deformation under pressure, and with increasing pressure, permanent plastic deformation can occur, affecting the battery's lifespan. For certain specialized batteries, this obviously does not meet the requirements, thus necessitating sealing rings made of new, alternative materials. Special ceramic materials with good acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature resistance have become a new choice. Special ceramic seals are now increasingly used in the power battery industry.

Wear-Resistant and Durable with Extra Long Lifespan

Ceramic seals have extremely strong wear resistance, with hardness far exceeding common materials. In equipment with frequent mechanical operation, ordinary sealing rings are prone to wear, while ceramic seals can be used for a long period. For instance, in water pumps where water flow mixed with impurities causes abrasion, ceramic seals with their high hardness can withstand friction, extending the maintenance cycle of equipment and reducing replacement costs.

Chemical Stability and Fearless of Acids and Alkalis

Ceramic has excellent chemical stability and can maintain its stability even in the presence of strong acids and alkalis. In chemical production where there are many corrosive chemicals, ordinary rubber sealing rings are easily corroded, whereas ceramic seals can easily handle these conditions. For example, the electroplating industry uses a large amount of acidic electrolyte, and ceramic seals can effectively prevent electrolyte leakage, ensuring production safety and protecting the environment.

High Temperature Resistance: the "Darling" of High-Temperature Environments

Ceramic, being fired at high temperatures, has outstanding high-temperature resistance. Under high temperatures, it does not soften or deform like organic materials. In steel smelters where furnace temperatures reach thousands of degrees Celsius, ceramic seals can be used to seal the furnace and pipelines; inside aircraft engines where temperatures are extremely high, ceramic seals can also maintain excellent sealing performance.

Precision Size and Super Stable Sealing

Ceramic seals can be precisely machined to produce products with extremely high dimensional accuracy. When installed, they fit perfectly with the sealing surface, achieving an excellent sealing effect. Manufacturing of electronic devices requires high precision in sealing, and ceramic seals can accurately fit, preventing dust and moisture from entering, thus protecting electronic components.

In summary, with their wear resistance, chemical stability, high-temperature resistance, and precise dimensions, ceramic seals play an important role in the industrial field.
